Programs and Activities of the Northwest Indiana Coordinating Council for SAVE
SAVE Today - Observed on the second Wednesday in October. A day when physicians’ spouses across the country work together to reduce violence.
Hands Are Not For Hitting - A teaching activity incorporated as part of other SAVE Today events.
SAVE Schools From Violence - A year-round program that works with schools to help children learn effective resolution strategies. Children are also provided with character education and health education activities.
Safe Place Schools - Schools designated as safe havens from violence.
Public Awareness Campaign - Utilizing billboards, with graphics selected through an annual childrens art contest, SAVE’s anti-violence message is reinforced in the community
Six schools in Lake County adopted by the NWI Coordinating Council for SAVE. They are designated as official SAVE Schools of Promise.

Indiana Harbor Catholic Elementary School - East Chicago
John H. Vohr Elementary School - Gary
Lafayette Elementary School - Hammond
