STOP AMERICA’S VIOLENCE EVERYWHERE

An initiative lauched by the American Medical Association Alliance in 1995, SAVE provides school children, battered women and their families, and homeless families with financial and emotional support and simple, effective lessons in conflict resolution. On the local level, the Northwest Indiana Coordinating Council for SAVE, sponsored by the Lake County Medial Society and Alliance, works in the region to focus attention on child abuse and violence through educational programs in schools and libraries..

Coordinating Council for SAVE

SAVE Today - Observed on the second Wednesday in October. A day when physicians’ spouses across the country work together to reduce violence.

Hands Are Not For Hitting - A teaching activity incorporated as part of other SAVE Today events.

SAVE Schools From Violence - A year-round program that works with schools to help children learn effective resolution strategies. Children are also provided with character education and health education activities.

Safe Place Schools - Schools designated as safe havens from violence.

Public Awareness Campaign - Utilizing billboards, with graphics selected through an annual childrens art contest, SAVE’s anti-violence message is reinforced in the community

Six schools in Lake County adopted by the NWI Coordinating Council for SAVE. They are designated as official SAVE Schools of Promise.
