Founded in 1852, the Lehigh County Medical Society was formed by a group of physicians who were dedicated to promoting physicians' professional and social needs while providing the best possible care to their patients. Over the years, the Lehigh County Medical Society has increased the range of services it offers while maintaining its commitment to its physician member base. By representing Lehigh County doctors in the Pennsylvania Medical Society and from there the American Medical Association, the LCMS gives Lehigh County's many doctors a voice to influence the ever-changing realm of health policy which is continually being revised in our nation.
Our membership base currently includes over 400 dedicated physicians from a wide variety of medical specialities. Members have the opportunity to formulate resolutions that will be presented through the Pennsylvania Medical Society (PMS) or the American Medical Association (AMA) to impact healthcare policy on a local, state, and federal level. Members also have the chance to serve on the society's board of trustees, be a part of a committee, and/or serve as delegates to the PMS or the AMA.
However they choose to participate in the Lehigh County Medical Society, our members know that they will be represented in important medical issues.
Mission Statement: The purpose of this society shall be to unite physicians to speak with one voice at the local, state and national level to influence health policy, thereby achieving the highest standard of healthcare for our community.
